MC and I were scheduled to do 24mi in 3 days. But, consistent with our compulsive hiking styles, we ended up with 28mi in 2 days, with a stop in Joshua Tree on the way back.
Also consistent with our style of hiking, we:
- got lost
- arrived in camp just before headlamp hour
- compulsively hiked a little farther than initially planned
- took the wrong trail for a while
- ate well, for hikers
And, consistent with my style of hiking, I fell and tripped often.
We also met a pair of cantankerous old men (think Waldorf & Statler), who were great.
I'm sad to report that I'm not the woman I once was. I've lost my hiking prowess, and hiking appetite. Shame of shames, MC and I split a Mac n' Cheese dinner.
But, I do plan to make a comeback. John Muir Trail '07! Who's with me?
hmmmmm.... senor Haw, are you planning to ski the jmt? i see an ice ax and crampons in your future
must say i'm still psyched though. And either way we all know that I'm a fan of the snow hiking. I'm no "Wolf" though (red and yella'll kill a fella)
i must say those two are the best looking hikers ive ever seen!!! JMT right after the Bahamas '07!!
MC and Steiner give good hair on the PCT
